You never sell two of the same car. Quantity is always one, every unit is distinct, and the thing that tells them apart is the chassis number — which is exactly what an IMEI is to a phone shop. A car that has not moved in two months is not stock — it is money sitting in the sun. - Not the purchase price. What you paid for the car, plus the panel work, plus the tyres, plus the two tanks of fuel it took to move it twice — every cost line is added before a margin is shown. The complaint that comes up most often about used-car buying is not the price and not the car. It is the title that never arrived, the registration that was never filed, and the second key that was promised at the counter and then went quiet for two months. Every one of those was a shop that had already won the customer.

Almost all of this was already there. Because a car is a serialised unit, the stock ledger, the deposit hold, the checkout, the instalments, the consignment, the commission and the stock valuation are the same code every other edition runs.
